- Open the modem, check the point where the phone line enters the
- circuit board. Follow the PC traces to the nearest components on the
- center two jack leads, you will probably find a couple of diodes
- nearby used for protection. To check them, pull one end out of the
- board, with a multimeter check resistance. It should read 2/3 scale
- in one direction and nothing in the other. If not they are bad.
- OR... just replace them anyway....
